Job Description
Why 310TUTORS The students who come to us are bright, capable kids, many of whom have spent years feeling like learning just isn't for them. They need an educator who shows up with skill, belief, and genuine care for who they are. Developing that kind of educator is what 310TUTORS is here to do. Joining our team means becoming part of a professional development ecosystem built around your growth: paid training in our curriculum, mentorship from experienced practitioners, and a structured pathway for your career. When educators grow, students thrive, and we're committed to both. Job Overview You'll deliver one-on-one academic instruction to special education students at our Santa Monica center while applying behavior-informed strategies to support attention, regulation, and learning. This role is equal parts academic teaching and behavioral support, designed for an experienced practitioner who loves working with kids and stays calm and effective when behaviors escalate. Students you'll support may present with dysregulation, task refusal, elopement, and other behaviors that interfere with learning. You'll be the person who keeps the session productive when those moments hit. This role requires demonstrated experience managing challenging behaviors in an instructional setting; BCBA and/or RBT certification is strongly preferred and given priority in hiring; the right person without the credential will also be considered. This is a direct teaching role, not a clinical or supervisory position.

Apply behavior-informed strategies to support attention, engagement, and self-regulation during academic work. Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors (task refusal, dysregulation, elopement, avoidance) calmly and consistently, keeping the session productive. Build trust and rapport with students so they show up ready to learn. Take initiative when a session isn't working — try a different approach, and flag patterns to leadership so we can adjust together. Document session notes accurately and communicate progress, observations, and concerns to center staff. Maintain a professional image and courteous demeanor with students, families, and team.Mandated Reporter:

Demonstrated experience managing challenging behaviors — dysregulation, refusal, elopement — while keeping instruction on track. A genuine love for working with kids and the ability to stay calm, consistent, and engaged when behaviors escalate.
