Full Job Description Pay:
Starting at $28.00 per hour
Location:
O'ahu, Hawai'i |
School-Based Services Schedule:
Monday-Friday | Approximately 7:00 AM-3:00 PM, aligned with Hawai'i Department of Education (DOE) school hours
Certification:
Active RBT certification strongly preferred About Emergent Learning Center Hawai'i Emergent Learning Center Hawai'i (ELC) is dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to individuals with developmental and behavioral needs. Led by Dr. Mark Dixon, an internationally recognized behavior scientist and developer of the PEAK, LIFE, AIM, and ACT curricula, our organization integrates research, clinical practice, and professional development to support meaningful outcomes for the individuals and families we serve. We are committed to developing skilled professionals through ongoing mentorship, specialized training, and opportunities to participate in innovative behavioral programming across educational and clinical environments. Position Overview Emergent Learning Center Hawai'i is seeking dependable, motivated, and dedicated Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to provide school-based behavioral services within Hawai'i Department of Education (DOE) settings. This position focuses on supporting students in educational environments through the implementation of individualized behavior intervention plans, skill acquisition programs, and evidence-based instructional strategies under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The anticipated work schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, consistent with DOE school hours. Actual start times, end times, and assigned hours may vary depending on school placement, student schedules, and organizational needs. In addition to traditional school-based behavioral support, qualified technicians may have opportunities to participate in specialized PEAK programming, including unique multiple-student caseload assignments and research-related initiatives conducted within the school setting. We strongly prefer candidates who hold an active RBT certification. Applicants who demonstrate relevant experience and a commitment to completing the certification process may also be considered. School-Based Services and PEAK Program Opportunities Our school-based services provide opportunities for technicians to develop their clinical skills while supporting meaningful educational and behavioral outcomes. Traditional DOE Assignments RBTs may be assigned to support individual students within their educational environments. Responsibilities may include implementing behavior intervention plans, promoting functional communication, supporting classroom participation, and teaching adaptive and social skills. Technicians collaborate with supervising BCBAs, educators, and other professionals to promote consistency and student progress throughout the school day. Specialized PEAK Programming and Research Opportunities ELC also offers opportunities to participate in specialized programming utilizing the PEAK Relational Training System, an evidence-based curriculum developed by Dr. Mark Dixon. PEAK focuses on developing language, cognitive, academic, and relational learning repertoires through behavior-analytic instructional procedures. Depending on program availability, qualifications, and student needs, technicians may be assigned to a unique multiple-student caseload rather than a traditional single-student assignment.
These opportunities may include:
Providing structured PEAK instruction to multiple students throughout the school day. Implementing individualized skill acquisition programs across assigned student caseloads. Collecting and maintaining accurate data to monitor student progress and program effectiveness. Collaborating with supervising BCBAs on program development, implementation, and ongoing assessment. Participating in research-related programming and data collection when appropriately authorized. Receiving specialized training and mentorship in PEAK assessment and instructional procedures. Supporting the development of advanced language, cognitive, academic, and relational learning skills. All PEAK programming and multiple-caseload assignments remain within the school-based service environment and established DOE school-hour schedules. Participation in research-related activities is dependent on program availability, appropriate authorization, and organizational needs. Work Environment and Scheduling Expectations RBTs will provide services in Hawai'i DOE school settings across assigned locations on O'ahu.
Essential expectations include:
Availability Monday through Friday during assigned school hours, generally between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Flexibility with start and end times based on individual school schedules, student assignments, and service requirements. Reliable transportation to assigned school locations. Willingness to travel to different DOE campuses as organizational needs require. Ability to work independently within classroom environments while following clinical direction. Consistent punctuality, dependable attendance, and professional communication. Willingness to support either individual student assignments or specialized multiple-student PEAK caseloads when applicable. Ability to collaborate professionally with school personnel and supervising clinicians. Schedules and assignments are subject to change based on school calendars, student needs, and organizational requirements. Primary Responsibilities Under the supervision of a BCBA, Registered Behavior Technicians are responsible for implementing individualized behavioral and instructional programs within the educational setting.
Responsibilities include:
Implement individualized behavior intervention plans and skill acquisition programs. Provide direct behavioral support to students in classroom and other school environments. Collect, record, and maintain accurate behavioral and instructional data. Support the development of communication, social, adaptive, academic, and functional living skills. Implement PEAK, AIM, LIFE, ACT, and other evidence-based programming as directed by the supervising BCBA. Support students with classroom participation, transitions, and engagement in educational activities. Implement behavior reduction strategies and reinforcement-based teaching procedures. Assist with assessments and instructional programming under appropriate clinical supervision. Support students with activities of daily living, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene, when appropriate. Collaborate with educators, school personnel, supervising BCBAs, and interdisciplinary team members. Participate in required supervision, training, and professional development. Complete daily session notes, service documentation, and required supervision verification records accurately and within established deadlines. Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to applicable educational, clinical, and ethical requirements. Participate in specialized PEAK programming and research-related activities when assigned and appropriately authorized. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Availability to work Monday through Friday during assigned DOE school hours, generally between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to assigned DOE school locations across O'ahu. Consistent punctuality, dependable attendance, and professional communication. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with school personnel and clinical supervisors. Willingness to accept feedback and implement clinical recommendations. Ability to actively engage with students in classroom and educational environments. Willingness to support students with activities of daily living when appropriate. Ability to successfully complete required background checks and DOE credentialing requirements. Willingness to complete required training and maintain applicable professional credentials.
