Job Title:
Qualified Behavior Interventionist Position Function:
The Qualified Behavior Interventionist provides direct and indirect support to administrators, teachers, students and families with the coordination of student¿s daily behavior regulation, relationship building and problem solving.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
Provides behavioral leadership and staff development focused on evidence-based behavioral practices. Modeling of evidenced-based behavior supports while working directly with students. Coaching, consulting and collaborating with staff and building administrator(s) on evidenced-based positive behavior supports put in place for individual students. Assists in identifying, acquiring and organizing available resources for students and staff. Collects, analyzes, and utilizes behavioral data, to identify and implement strategies to drive positive behavioral changes. Collaborates with Child Study Team Members, and classroom teachers as part of Individual Problem-Solving Process. Identifies behavioral escalation and implements effective de-escalation strategies. Seeks to minimize student exclusionary discipline by identifying students with high behavioral needs and providing targeted student specific interventions. Monitor staff fidelity to Behavior Intervention Plans. Observe staff implementing interventions for procedural accuracy.
Additional Duties:
Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Equipment:
Must be able to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. As well as instructional technology (Smart-boards, clickers, etc.).
Travel:
Limited travel may be required.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Must be able to walk long distances Respond rapidly in emergency situations Stand for long periods of time Bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps, reach overhead, lift, push, pull up to 20 pounds or more with assistance Work five days a week, up to seven hours or more per day, or as assigned Must be able to complete the required Crisis prevention training (physical skills)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Background knowledge and experience in teaching students Familiar with District standards and assessments Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Exhibit a professional manner to all customers Ability to prioritize and organize Ability to perform a variety of tasks Ability to change assignments on short notice Ability to perform under deadline and work in a calm and efficient manner Ability to work in a positive and cooperative manner with others in the workplace
Interrelations:
Heavy contact with staff and students Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy Must exhibit a professional manner and maintain a positive attitude with all students and colleagues
Employee Punctuality and Appearance:
In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave. Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position
Qualification Profile:
Kansas Teaching license, School Counseling License, or have a Social Work accreditation 3 to 5 years of teaching experience preferred Valid Kansas Driver's License required Bachelor's Degree required
