Aug 31, 2026 Job Description Position title: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Reports to: Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Program Manager
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Licensure as required by the state of Massachusetts. Experience working with children or individuals with special needs. Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles. Ability to collect and interpret data effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Essential Functions:
The following are typical work responsibilities. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions: Implement behavior intervention plans as designed by the BCBA to support students in achieving their academic and social-emotional goals. Collect and record data on student behaviors, progress, and program effectiveness. Assist in conducting behavior assessments and provide input on behavior interventions. Provide one-on-one support to students in a variety of educational settings, including classrooms, resource rooms, and social environments. Use evidence-based behavioral strategies such as reinforcement, prompting, and task analysis to address student needs. Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and other support staff to ensure consistency in behavior support across environments. Attend training sessions and professional development as required to maintain RBT certification. Maintain open communication with the supervising BCBA and school personnel to provide updates on student progress and any emerging needs or concerns. Assist with crisis intervention and use approved physical management techniques when necessary. Support social and academic inclusion efforts for students with disabilities. Adhere to all Ipswich Public Schools policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines related to student confidentiality and behavior support.
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE
Exhibits the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Maintains confidentiality Develops and maintains effective working relationships with students, co-workers, administrators, and the school community Demonstrates the ability to work with teachers and students to support students in the general education classroom Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods. Ability to physically support and, if necessary, manage students exhibiting aggressive behaviors using approved techniques. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
