QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master's degree in Special Education or a field of study related to supporting students with significant behavior disorders. 2. Board Certified Behavior Analysis (BCBA) preferred or willingness to obtain. 3. Three to five years of experience implementing research-based strategies to address challenging behaviors. 4. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in programming for students with special needs. 5. Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION
(S): 1. Experience supporting students with Cognitive Impairments and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Disabilities.
ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO
1. Consultation with administrators and instructional/support staff regarding evidence-based practices that support the development and revisions of: Functional Behavior Assessments, Positive Behavior Support Plans, Emergency Intervention Plans, Classroom Management and Reinforcement Systems. 2. Model instruction for staff to support behavioral techniques and implement positive behavior strategies. 3. Participate in Individualized Education Program Team meetings. 4. Provide parents and families with techniques to assess and implement positive behavior strategies in the home/community environments. 5. Ability to assess and accurately document student behavior and instructional progress. 6. Engage in regular professional learning opportunities to stay current on evidence-based practices. 7. Demonstrate the ability establish and maintain effective working relationships and to communicate clearly and concisely in written and oral communication with administrators, staff, parents/guardians, and community agencies. 8. Organize and schedule time commitments to meet demands of the job. 9. Promotes PBIS, Universal Design for Learning, differentiation of instruction, and the use of assistive technology to address the needs of students with disabilities. 10. Ability to become a county-level trainer for Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE
1. Complies with Macomb Intermediate School District Seclusion and Restraint Policy. 2. Collaborate with colleagues to build capacity in staff within local districts and center-based programs. 3. Provide Professional Development Workshops and training on research-based practices. 4. Demonstrates the implementation of the behavior plan while working individually with the students. 5. Assists in documenting the effectiveness of the behavior plan. 6. Become a designated member on the building Emergency Response Team and the building Emergency Behavior Team. 7.
