Aug 14, 2026 Job Description Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for a Behavior and Academic Specialist at Myhre Elementary for the 2026-2027 School Year. The Academic and Behavior Specialist will collaborate with teachers and specialists for delivery of academic and behavior support services to students. Preferred (but not required) candidate would hold a ND teaching license and/or have experience working as a certified teacher and can obtain a ND teaching license.
Responsibilities:
The Academic and Behavior Specialist will collaborate with the instructional coach to address students' inappropriate behaviors and provide a means to help the students become more academically successful. The Academic and Behavior Specialist will work in collaboration with staff to provide both classroom and school-wide function-based planning for developing behavior change strategies that focus on reducing problem behavior and increasing more appropriate behavior. Collaborate with staff regularly and engage in data-based decision making as well as ongoing review of documentation and progress monitoring to support the management of challenging behaviors and bridging academic gaps. As well as providing classroom-based modeling, coaching, and student-specific interventions; facilitates teacher inquiry and related professional development for academic and behavior. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Valid ND Teaching Certificate or Licensed in social work or A two year degree and experience working with children Depending on qualifications, salary will be based on the teacher salary schedule
