DESCRIPTION
A Behavior Technician is a highly trained behavior intervention specialist with knowledge and skills necessary to support students through the application of applied behavior analysis (ABA). They provide a full range of behavioral supports, following established protocols and the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). A Behavior Technician is responsible for the direct implementation of skill-acquisition and behavior modification plans developed by the district's Behavior Specialist.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Degree/Experience + Certification
High school diploma, or higher, 4 years of experience working with children with disabilities in an ABA program, and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.
Bachelor's degree, or higher, in the job-related area (Psychology, Education or related field) and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.
Bachelor's degree, or higher, in the job-related area (Psychology, Education or related field) and 2 years of experience working with children with disabilities in an ABA program.
2. Ability to work directly with students under the direction of the district's Behavior Specialist. 3. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in supporting behaviors that impede student learning.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
REPORTS TO
Director of Student Services and/or designee.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in developing, implementing, modeling behavior and Individual Education Plans for the purpose of meeting individual student needs and reinforcing learning activities.
- Assist classroom teacher in behavior management of individual students with identified behavioral needs.
- Implement and execute behavior intervention plans with integrity using Applied Behavior Analysis principles.
- Demonstrate knowledge of research based behavioral strategies.
- Work collaboratively and collegially with teachers, administrators, and supervisors and maintain frequent and open lines of communication.
- Manage time efficiently and effectively.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
