Home Enabling Supports (HES) Assessor Job Summary The Home Enabling Supports (HES) Assessor is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD). This role focuses on evaluating how assistive technology can enhance safety and promote independence for clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and have experience working with the special needs population, particularly in conducting technology assessments and/or implementing assistive technology solutions such as motion sensors, skill-based apps, sensory supports, vision and hearing supports, etc. Responsibilities Conduct detailed assessments of individuals with I/DD to determine their needs related to safety, independence, and daily living. Evaluate the suitability of various assistive technologies, including motion sensors and skill-based devices, to support clients' unique requirements. Develop personalized support plans that incorporate appropriate assistive technology solutions. Collaborate with clients, families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure assessments align with individual goals and circumstances. Provide guidance on the implementation and proper use of assistive technology to maximize safety and independence. Document assessment findings, recommendations, and progress in accordance with organizational standards. Stay informed about emerging assistive technologies and best practices in supporting individuals with disabilities. Qualifications Minimum of one year of experience working with the special needs population, including conducting technology assessments or implementing assistive technology solutions. Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with clients and team members. Knowledge of assistive technologies such as motion sensors, skill-based devices, and other supportive tools. Ability to assess individual needs comprehensively and develop tailored support strategies. Compassionate approach with a commitment to enhancing client safety and independence. Relevant certifications or training in assistive technology or disability support are preferred but not mandatory.
