A Behavior Analyst is a mental health professional focusing on applied behavior analysis. Usually requires a certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Position Overview The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) assists in client treatment programs and performs selected Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy procedures and related tasks under the direction and supervision of senior clinical leadership. This role provides direct 1:1 behavioral interventions, leads curriculum assessments, and delivers clinical supervision to BCaBAs and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) in accordance with all state, federal, and professional regulations.
Provide direct supervision, guidance, and instruction to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and BCaBAs. Assist with training activities and competency checklists for new and existing clinical staff.
Direct Client Care & Program Management:
Implement 1:1 behavioral intervention programs for children. Introduce, train, and oversee new client programs and conduct team meetings as needed.
Assessments & Behavior Plans:
Conduct VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS, or other curriculum assessments as assigned. Develop Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and customized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
Progress Tracking & Reporting:
Perform monthly graphing, complete detailed progress reports, and continuously evaluate client data to optimize treatment outcomes.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with supervisory staff, parents, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure cohesive care.
Compliance & Documentation:
Complete comprehensive session documentation and fulfill all billing requirements in accordance with payor source policies, state practice acts, and internal standards. Ensure physical surroundings and equipment remain safe, sanitary, and compliant with safety guidelines.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree in an acceptable, related field (e.g., Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education). Licensure /
Certification:
Active Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification through the BACB.
State Licensure:
Active BCBA licensure in the state of South Carolina.
Supervision Requirements:
Completion of the BACB-required 8-Hour Supervision Training module.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Strong expertise in discrete trial teaching techniques, child development, and challenging behavior management. Proficiency in data collection methodology, functional behavior assessments, and standard ABA curriculum assessments. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
