Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of Jersey, is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Tech I for the Office of Operations at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under direction, the Biomedical Equipment Tech I, is responsible for suggesting, developing and providing safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical equipment. Ensures that the biomedical equipment is on compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Designs reviews for serviceability/reliability, service plan generation, service documentation and procedure development, defining service parts, outlining service training and tracking equipment performance. Diagnoses and repairs moderately complex medical equipment issues. Acts as an escalation point for resolution of complex technical issues. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on medical equipment according to manufacturer and regulatory guidelines. Conducts electrical safety inspections and performance verification testing on equipment. Provides initial training to technical support personnel. • 12 month Position Pension Eligibility ABP Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Technical training in biomedical equipment, electronics, or a related field, plus a minimum of three (3) years' of electrical, mechanical, or related technical experience.

Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education/technical school requirements. Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must show strong electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills. Effective communication skills required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with preventative maintenance and system diagnostics as well as familiarity with regulatory/safety compliance in a clinical, laboratory and facilities environment preferred; exposure to clinical/lab environments in a University setting; interaction/knowledge of autoclaves, steam generators, and STERIS equipment is recommended.
