Full Job Description Description:
Preventive Maintenance:
Performing function checks on boom articulation, mechanical brakes, and leak testing interior hoses.
Compliance Testing:
Ensuring nonstationary booms meet NFPA 99 testing guidelines, which typically requires evaluations every 18 months.
Repair and Troubleshooting:
Fixing pipeline leaks, replacing terminal units, and addressing system alarms to avoid surgical delays.
System Upgrades:
Retrofitting or installing brand new surgical boom systems in healthcare facilities.
Requirements:
Certifications:
Technicians are usually required to hold ASSE (American Society of Sanitary Engineering) certifications, such as ASSE 6040 and
ASSE 6030
(Medical Gas System Verifier).
Regulatory Knowledge:
Deep understanding of NFPA 99 (Health Care Facilities Code) and local plumbing or mechanical codes.
