Biomedical Equipment Technician II (BMET II)
Position Summary:
The Biomedical Equipment Technician II is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of a wide range of medical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation. This mid-level role requires independent troubleshooting, strong technical expertise, and the ability to support clinical staff while maintaining regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) , safety inspections, and corrective repairs on biomedical equipment Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex equipment issues with minimal supervision Install, test, and calibrate medical devices according to manufacturer specifications Maintain accurate documentation of work performed in CMMS (e.g., ServiceNow, AIMS, etc.) Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, FDA, NFPA) Provide technical support and basic training to clinical and operational staff Coordinate vendor service and assist with equipment lifecycle planning Participate in equipment evaluations, upgrades, and capital planning initiatives Support inventory management and equipment tracking processes
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3-5 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance and repair Strong knowledge of medical device systems, electronics, and safety standards Ability to read schematics, manuals, and technical documentation Experience with CMMS systems and proper documentation practices Valid driver's license (if travel between sites is required)
Preferred Qualifications:
CBET certification (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician) Experience supporting high-acuity equipment (e.g., patient monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators) Prior experience in a hospital or healthcare environment
