Job Description
The
- Biomedical Technician III, Clinical Engineering
- role supports the Clinical Engineering department at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center by ensuring the safe, accurate, and reliable operation of medical, surgical, and research equipment across the institution.

- Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical, surgical, and research equipment
- Receive, assemble, and inspect new equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance
- Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and modify electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment
- Communicate with clinical clients to diagnose and resolve equipment issues
- Ensure equipment compliance with manufacturer specifications and institutional standards
- Conduct and document performance assurance testing, analyze results, and determine equipment safety and accuracy
- Provide in-service training to nursing and clinical staff on equipment operation and troubleshooting
- Coordinate equipment repairs with external vendors and internal clients as required
- Document all equipment modifications and maintenance in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Assist with service contracts, pre-purchase evaluations, incident investigations, and project management activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION
Required:
Associate's Degree Biomedical Technology (BMET) or Electronic Engineering.
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree Biomedical Technology (BMET) or Electronic Engineering.WORK EXPERIENCE
Required:
4 years Biomedical Technology experience. or
Required:
2 years Experience required with preferred degree.- May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred:
Experience in medical device life cycle management, specialized medical device support - maintenance and support for Beds, Stretchers, Dialysis, and equipment within SPD (Sterile Processing Department) environment, asset reliability, customer service, and operation coordination skills.
