Your Opportunity As a Biomedical Equipment Technician II, you will serve as a key member of the Clinical Engineering team supporting a regional hospital in Odessa, Texas. You will work closely with hospital staff, clinicians, vendors, and HERO leadership to ensure that medical equipment remains safe, reliable, compliant, and available for patient care. Unlike many BMET roles that limit technicians to a narrow specialty, this position offers the opportunity to work across a wide variety of medical technologies while gaining valuable experience in program operations, compliance, inventory management, and customer relationships. What You'll Do Technical Service Excellence Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, calibrations, and troubleshooting on a wide range of medical equipment. Diagnose equipment failures and return devices to service quickly and safely. Perform incoming inspections and acceptance testing on newly acquired medical devices. Coordinate vendor service activities and support OEM escalations when required. Support equipment uptime initiatives and rapid response for critical equipment failures. Maintain accurate service documentation and work order completion within the CMMS. Participate in after-hours and on-call support as required. Program Support & Operations Assist with maintaining regulatory compliance and survey readiness activities. Support departmental preventative maintenance completion goals and operational KPIs. Help maintain equipment inventory accuracy and asset visibility. Participate in equipment replacement planning and lifecycle discussions. Assist with implementation of process improvements and operational efficiencies. Support special projects including inventory assessments, equipment installations, and device deployments. Customer Relationships Build trusted relationships with nursing, surgery, imaging, facilities, IT, supply chain, and hospital leadership. Communicate proactively during equipment downtime events and service escalations. Participate in Environment of Care rounds, committee meetings, and hospital initiatives as required. Represent HERO with professionalism and a customer-first mindset at all times. Team Collaboration Share knowledge and best practices with fellow technicians. Assist with onboarding and supporting junior team members when appropriate. Contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Support departmental goals and help create a positive customer experience throughout the organization. What Makes You a Great Fit Required Qualifications Minimum of three years of biomedical equipment maintenance and repair experience in a healthcare environment. Experience troubleshooting and repairing a variety of medical equipment. Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, or equivalent military training and experience. Experience working within a hospital or healthcare environment. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Experience with CMMS platforms such as TruAsset, TMS, AIMS, or similar systems. Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Preferred Qualifications CBET Certification or active pursuit of certification. Experience supporting critical life-support equipment including anesthesia machines, ventilators, infant incubators, and other high-acuity patient care devices. OEM training or manufacturer certification on life-support equipment. Experience with networking, cybersecurity, imaging systems, or advanced medical technologies. Manufacturer training or certification from organizations such as GE HealthCare, Dräger, Mindray, Philips Healthcare, Getinge, or similar OEMs. Experience supporting hospital Clinical Engineering programs.
