Job Description
Echocardiography Technician II (Irvine) Join the transformative team at City of Hope , where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. City of Hope's growing national system includes its Los Angeles campus, a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, California, and treatment facilities in Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix. An Echocardiography Technician II performs noninvasive heart imaging using ultrasound technology to assess cardiac structure and function. They operate specialized echocardiography equipment to produce diagnostic images, assist physicians in evaluating heart conditions, and ensure accurate data collection. The role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work with diverse patient populations while supporting diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac care.
Note:
This position is for the day shift, although it may vary slightly based on business needs. This position requires flexibility to accommodate varying patient needs, including possible weekends. On-call responsibilities and mandatory overtime may also be necessary. As a successful candidate, you will:- Perform Echocardiogram, carotid and peripheral vascular studies, use non-invasive procedure, to examine heart valves, chambers, and blood vessels to produce images. Evaluate the various valves and chambers of the heart and makes appropriate measurements
- Perform imaging and non-imaging cardiovascular evaluations which may include exercise tolerance tests, electrocardiograms, stress tests, and transesophageal echocardiography. Obtain patient history, explains procedure to patient, addresses patients' concerns, and follows established pre-screening.
- Recognize potentially serious conditions (e.g., pericardial effusion, intracardiac tumor, thrombi, etc) and brings it to the attention of the physician.
- Maintain echocardiography and other equipment in efficient operating order; may perform minor preventative maintenance; contacts outside service for major malfunctions.
Your qualifications should include:
- Associated degree in Cardiovascular Ultrasound; Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
- 2 years' experience performing M-mode and 2-dimensional echocardiograms, as well as Doppler studies
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), and/or Register Cardiac Sonography (RCS) from Cardiovascular credentialing international (CCI)
