Job Description

Department Cardiovascular Diagnostic Serv Job Summary The Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) functions at the highest level of expertise, maintaining advanced practical and clinical knowledge working directly with consultants in review of echocardiograms. Integrates known clinical information, echocardiographic findings, and related physiological data to ensure that the exam is comprehensive and accurate in preparation for physician review. The ACS is committed to improving overall lab quality and efficiency through preparing preliminary echo assessments; performing advanced echocardiograms; mentoring fellows, students, residents, and staff facilitating continuous improvement and coordinating cardiac ultrasound research. Integrate and triage workflow based on analysis of patient history and referral diagnoses. Utilizes leadership skills to assess, direct and guide Cardiac Sonographers to obtain pertinent data for immediate physician review. When required, must be able to perform complete echocardiographic study integrating all imaging modalities necessary to obtain all pertinent patient data. Participates in reading with physician and contributes professional knowledge to final diagnostic impression or report. Required Qualifications
  • Require a graduate of a programmatically accredited program in Advanced Cardiac Sonography or seven (7) years of cardiac ultrasound clinical experience as a registered echocardiography sonographer will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • Require a minimum of five (5) years of cardiac sonographer experience.
  • Require Advanced Cardiac Sonography registry.
  • Require registration in 2 cardiovascular specialties including vascular technology, cardiac sonography for adult, cardiac sonography for pediatrics by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RVT and RDCS), adult cardiac sonography, congenital cardiac sonography, vascular specialists, and advanced cardiac sonographer from Cardiac Credentialing International (RVS, RCS, RCCS, ACS).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer a Bachelor degree in Health Sciences, Health Administration, or Cardiovascular Sonography.
  • Prefer previous education and quality improvement experience.
  • Prefer successful completion of basic arrhythmia or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification course within (6) months of employment.
