A Cardiovascular Technician or Technologist uses imaging technology and other procedures to diagnose cardiac (heart) and vascular (blood vessel) problems in patients. Works closely with cardiologists and medical sonographers. Works in hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
$26.00 - $26.00 Essential Functions Performs basic echocardiograms supervised by an echocardiography technologist. Identifies and assists patients with questions about procedures. Prepares patients for exam and ensures patient safety in the absence of the echocardiography technologist. Obtains supplies for agitated saline and ultrasound enhancing agents as directed for administration by a certified technologist or registered nurse. Assists physician in the performance of diagnostic transesophageal echocardiogram procedures. Stock procedure rooms and carts with linens and supplies. Prepares preliminary report for Echocardiography Technician to review. Retrieves requisitions and delivers to designated areas. Assists patients to restrooms or with bedpans and urinals as needed. Assists with administrative duties Physical Requirements Requires the ability to lift and carry 40 pounds. Frequent walking, standing, bending and pushing. Education, Experience and Certifications High School Diploma or GED required. Enrollment in cardiac ultrasound training program required.
