Required Experience:

Two (2) years of prior experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory or invasive procedure area in an acute care hospital. Six (6)-12 months during a CVT accredited program or two (2) years in another cardiac vascular laboratory. Familiarity with computers, hemodynamic monitoring, and sterile operative techniques. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Required:

Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Technologist program, Radiologic Technologist program, or Applied Science program.

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). RCIS.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

Licensed Special Procedures Radiologic Technologist.

Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Technologist assists physicians with invasive cardiac and peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including temporary and permanent pacemaker placement, and assists with circulatory support devices such as IABP and Impella.

Job Responsibilities:

Prepare and organize equipment and sterile trays for each procedure. Assist with patient positioning and preparation of patient monitoring. Calibrate and test transducers for accurate pressure readings. Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Load and operate power injectors and associated sterile support equipment. Maneuver table controls as requested by physicians. (Radiology Technologist (RT) only maneuvers fluoroscopy as requested.) Calibrate hemodynamic monitoring equipment and obtain, calculate, and analyze hemodynamic data, including computerized ventriculography data and valve area. Calculate and record cardiac output and oximetry readings. Utilize and maintain Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS), digital cine technologies, and image/hemodynamic record storage. Assist with vascular access, sheath removal, hemostatic closure devices, and radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis. Assist with inventory control, PAR level maintenance, and preparation of required equipment. Operate equipment safely and maintain supplies. Participate in catheterization lab on-call responsibilities. Recognize and interpret cardiac arrhythmias. Assist with maintenance, calibration, and routine evaluation of diagnostic and technical equipment. Identify patient needs and deliver age-appropriate care. Adhere to radiation safety standards and organizational policies. Promote a professional environment consistent with organizational core values. #
