Job Description

Category Nursing - CVOR Tech Job Type Contract Seeking a dedicated cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) technologist with strong cardiothoracic experience to support complex surgical procedures, including CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic chest operations. This 13-week contract role offers a dynamic work environment within a skilled surgical team, emphasizing patient safety and collaborative care.
Schedule/Hours:
Day rotation (Monday-Friday), 40 hours per week Shift start times typically between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Flexibility for either 5x8-hour shifts or 4x10-hour shifts Call requirements: up to 3 shifts per week (8-16 hours per call shift) One working weekend with call shift per four weeks
Qualifications:
Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA certification required) Current BLS certification Documented CVOR experience with emphasis on cardiothoracic procedures (CABG, valve, VATS, robotics, etc.) Strong understanding of sterile technique and infection control protocols Previous experience assisting with surgical gowning, gloving, draping, and instrumentation
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain asepsis and sterile technique at all times in the operating room Anticipate surgeon's needs for instruments, sutures, and supplies during operative procedures Keep a meticulous count of sponges, needles, and instruments, ensuring patient safety Prepare the operating room by assembling supplies and equipment according to case preference cards Collaborate closely with the surgeon, assisting with suturing, retracting, and suctioning Adhere to strict surgical specimen handling protocols Expedite OR turnover between cases, helping maintain an efficient workflow Participate in rotating call coverage as assigned Serve as a resource for new team members and leverage experienced staff when needed Contribute your expertise to a fast-paced surgical environment focused on clinical excellence and outstanding patient care.
