Bonus Potential Summary/Objective The Cardiac Sonographer Assistant is responsible for assisting in providing general cardiology services to patients as assigned in accordance with established Departmental and Hospital standards of care under the supervision of a cardiac sonographer. Essential Job Duties Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Assists and performs services in the Department including echocardiography, carotid doppler studies, peripheral studies, stress testing and others as required timely and accurately. Reviews medical record including admission and current cardiovascular orders, patient history, physical examination, and EKG. Prepares patient, sets up equipment and assists physician in performing stress tests and TEE's Maintains awareness of control switches on machine and how they affect the images and/or EKG tracing, including when they should be used and what changes occur Scans Holter tapes recognizing arrhythmias and responds accordingly. Demonstrates knowledge of basic cardiac and vascular anatomy Required Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent and currently enrolled in an accredited sonography program with successful completion of the first semester; basic arrhythmia course, a minimum of one year experience in cardiovascular ultrasound, previous experience in stress testing, and EKGs .
