Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
Should possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Current valid Florida driver's license. Must pass a comprehensive background/character investigation, medical examination, drug screening, and polygraph examination; fingerprinting will be required. Bachelor's degree required in Social Science or closely related field, from an accredited university or college with a major in the field of criminal justice, counseling, social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation, special education, health education or a related human services field and one-year experience. Prior experience with the criminal justice population, knowledge of the corrections or judicial system and working with clients with mental health and substance abuse issues preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of business English and spelling. Knowledge of mathematics Knowledge of office practices and procedures Effective in written and oral communication. Ability to access, input and retrieve information from a word processor or computer.
Tasks and Policies:
Coordinates all services provided to mental court clients. Conducts an initial assessment and evaluation of the client's needs and develops a case plan to meet these needs. Participates in the mental court staffing and clinical staffing to determinate the ongoing needs and issues of clients. Attends clinical staffing with the treatment provider. Tracks clients and makes home visits to monitor compliance with the continuing case plan. Maintains regular contact with clients and treatment providers. Conducts urinalysis testing on clients as requested. Counsels offenders concerning rules of mental health court within 24 hours of initial contact. Meets with clients in treatment and in the community to assess their needs and assist with problems and referrals. Meets with clients at the jail. Ensure clients are referred to outside agencies when they have specific needs (i.e., social services, mental health, public assistance, housing, daycare, education, employment). Works closely with treatment providers on the coordination of services. Assists clients with completing forms and other documents. Prepares and distributes reports. Maintain close working relationships with circuit judicial assistants, the office of the Public Defender, the office of the State Attorney, Clerk of Circuit Courts Office and community agencies. Perform comprehensive intake psychosocial screenings producing a diagnostic impression on initial visit. Perform judicial liaison duties by attending court proceedings. Follow-up on community resource linkage. Document all client contact and maintain active files for all mental health court clients. Must be able to meet work schedule and attendance standards. Performs related duties as required.
Policy:
Arrives on time for work, limits breaks and lunches to the allotted time, and leaves on time. Uses leave in accordance with General Orders; communicates and cooperates with management in providing proper notice of leave; patterns and amounts of leave usage (not including legitimate, properly scheduled and approved leave and protected leave). Volume of work accomplished is consistent with position requirements and produced within quality tolerance standards. Works with other team members to achieve group goals by contributing ideas in group settings, accepting ideas contributed by others, operating within team rules, participating in team meetings, working with team members to improve job knowledge and skills, putting team goals, and supporting team leaders once decisions are made. Follows standard office procedures, safety policies and procedures, and agency General Orders. Maintains good interpersonal relations (the manner in which the employees respond emotionally and verbally) with the public, other employees, and supervisors.
