About Us American Adoptions is a newly licensed child placing agency in Michigan committed to connecting children with loving, permanent families. We believe in providing compassionate, ethical, and thorough services to both expectant parents and adoptive families. As we grow, we are seeking dedicated professionals who share our mission of making a lasting difference in the lives of children and families. Position Overview We are currently seeking a Contract Adoption Specialist (PRN) to work directly with clients in community settings across Michigan. This role is ideal for a compassionate and experienced social work professional with a background in child welfare or related fields. The Adoption Specialist will guide expectant parents and adoptive families through the adoption process, ensuring that each placement is handled with care, diligence, and ethical integrity. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive Home Study assessments of prospective adoptive families to evaluate readiness and suitability for adoption. Provide counseling, education, and support to expectant parents exploring adoption, including completion of assessments and document collection. Meet with clients face to face throughout the adoption process. Collaborate closely with the National Office to coordinate services and ensure compliance with state regulations and agency standards. Maintain timely and accurate documentation of all interactions, assessments, and progress notes in accordance with licensing requirements and best practices. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Welfare, or a closely related field is required . Prior experience conducting home studies and working in child welfare or adoption services is strongly preferred. Familiarity with child protective services procedures and the legal aspects of adoption is highly desirable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills ; ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a community-based setting.
