Job Description

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, the Counselor Associate conducts clinical assessments, and provides direct patient care. Completes associated administrative/clerical tasks, and maintains orderly work area. Maintains confidentiality. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify and provide the care needed. Assist with admission process, including conducting body and luggage searches and orienting patients to the unit. Responsible for daily tracking of vital signs, observation sheets, point sheets, as well as organize and facilitate group activities for patients. These functions include working in the EMR- Excellent communication and follow up skills required for this position. This employee will also be responsible for all other assigned duties and tasks; on an as-needed basis.
Performance Expectation:
Demonstrate the ability to complete a clinical interview and review information with patients and family members. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate clinically with staff within various roles. Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with outside agencies and referral sources including school personnel. Demonstrate the willingness and ability to actively participate in helping achieve the objectives of the department; able to work independently as well as with a team. Demonstrated the ability to complete all required trainings and/or certifications and attend all required meetings. Demonstrate the ability to be flexible with changing priorities; able to tolerate high stress situations / mental demands and make decisions that are ethically and legally sound.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills Bachelor degree in psychology, social work, or related healthcare field required.
Work Experience:
Work experience in a mental health setting is preferred Certification/Licensure-DUE
