Job Description:
The Prosthetic Technician provides in person customer service and patient care, assists with direct patient care, oversees purchasing of patient supplies and ensures that experiences with our office are held to a superior standard. Knowing that returning to a pre-amputation lifestyle is the goal, it is important to confidently provide excellent customer service and patient care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform duties including but not limited to ordering, shipping and receiving patient supplies, maintaining patient supply/cost spreadsheets, and assist with patient care to ensure clinic efficiency. Serves as primary liaison with outside DME manufacturers and representatives, coordinating meetings, trainings on new products, and issue resolution. Operate and maintain power equipment including floor grinders, oscillating saws, drills, band saws, and grinders following all manufacturer instructions and company protocols. Mixing/pouring plaster casts, vacuum forming thermoplastic, cutting/grinding prosthetic sockets, assembling prosthetics, and repairing broken prosthetic devices. Cleaning and maintaining an organized and safe shop space. Update patient data upon receipt of information. Performing data entry, copying, faxing, emailing. Performing other duties as requested
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of prosthetic fabrication techniques, materials, and equipment used in the construction, repair, and maintenance of prosthetic devices. Ability to safely operate and maintain fabrication equipment, including grinders, saws, drills, and vacuum forming systems. Strong customer service and patient care skills with a focus on supporting patients throughout the prosthetic process. Strong organizational and inventory management skills to coordinate supplies, vendor relationships, and documentation. Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with clinicians, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED is required. Medical Terminology, specifically related to Vascular surgery. Interpersonal/human relations skills, including telephone etiquette. Organizational skills Electronic Medical Record data entry
PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS
To conduct this position properly, applicants must be able to complete the following list of physical tasks. Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time Lifting objects, possibly weights more than 30 pounds. Bending, reaching, and twisting Ability to assist and support patients in transfer from exam rooms, out of wheelchairs, onto exam tables, during the exam process, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus as needed.
