Job Description
Summary Promotes a nurturing, safe, and supportive environment for each memory impaired resident by developing and supervising the Memory Care program. Works as a team member of the community to enhance the quality of life of all Memory Care residents and create opportunities for meaningful and dignified life. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct daily rounds of apartments, courtyards, lifestyle areas and Dining Room.
- Recognize changes in resident condition and report to the nurse.
- Organize, participate in, and ensure delivery of the Treasures program.
- Develop and organize a monthly activity calendar in conjunction with written guidelines.
- Develop, implement and participate in activity programs and drive the community bus on memory care outings.
- Assist Director of Life Enrichment with planning and participating in community wide events.
- Develop ongoing activity stations for 24-hour resident programming.
- Provide ongoing educational experiences for the community team and community participants.
- Monitor and oversee the Memory Care team schedule.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed.
- Maintain working knowledge of fire and disaster plans and responsibilities under emergency conditions.
- Assume responsibility for medication administration in the Memory Care program.
- Monitor vital signs and weight of residents.
- Practice redirection, re-approach, and validation whenever possible. Normal conversational skills are to be exercised whenever care or attention is being delivered. Maintain frequent, open contact with team members and families.
- Plan and organize assignments to benefit the resident and delivery of care, within the guidelines established by community policies.
- Supervise caregivers and ensures resident cleanliness and safety.
- Practice basic infection control with linens, hand washing, and in all other aspects of delivery of resident care.
- Attend mandatory meetings as scheduled by Executive Director.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident, community, employee, and company information.
- Maintain working knowledge of fire and disaster plans and responsibilities under emergency conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
