Full Job Description Description:
Appalachian Mountain Health ("AMH"), a Federally Qualified Health Center based in Asheville, NC, is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to serve as a Provider Support Specialist (PSS). This unique hybrid role blends clinical expertise with education, mentorship, and workflow support for our APP clinicians. The PSS will work closely with new APP hires, providing hands on onboarding, documentation coaching, and workflow training. This position also supports clinicians who need additional help with time management, chart completion, and documentation quality. Regular travel to AMH clinic sites is required. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the PSS will maintain 40% clinical practice, including telehealth acute visits and in person coverage for
PTO/FMLA
gaps. AMH provides comprehensive, accessible, patient centered primary care to underserved communities across Western North Carolina. This role is ideal for a seasoned APP who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and improving clinical quality across the organization. Background check and drug screen required. Responsibilities Provide 10 weeks of daily onboarding for new APPs, followed by 3 months of twice weekly check ins. Coach clinicians on documentation, EMR efficiency, ICD 10 linkage, and workflow optimization. Identify and support clinicians needing improvement in time management or chart completion. Travel to clinic sites to provide in person coaching and workflow observation. Provide clinical coverage for staffing gaps and conduct telehealth acute visits. Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure consistent onboarding and documentation standards.
Requirements:
Requirements Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner degree from an accredited institution. Current North Carolina PA C or NP license. Minimum 5 years of primary care experience as an APP. Strong documentation, EMR, and workflow skills. Excellent communication and mentoring abilities. Ability to travel regularly to AMH clinic sites. Commitment to community health and AMH's mission.
