Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
To abstract objective hospital data through the Nuance Quality Measures System and/or other databases for use in the quality management program and others to measure and evaluate quality. Data can be used to evaluate clinical groupings by DRG, charge, age, geographically and others according to the data abstracted and the needs of the user.
JOB DUTIES
Abstracts data in accordance with established standards, guidelines definitions and timelines for all programs. Enters abstracted data into appropriate databases in accordance with established standards, guidelines definitions and timelines for all programs. Performs data quality checks as required. Maintains a 90% accuracy rate for Core Measures. Validates data required to assure accuracy and completeness. Participates and functions in a back-up capacity for other functions within the department. Performs other data collections, abstracting, and reporting functions in regard to specialized projects as assigned. Performs other duties as requested by the Manager as directed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
High school graduate and equivalent secondary education skills. Must have knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Health Information Management or equivalent training or experience in a Medical Record Department preferred. Experience preferred but on the job training is possible.
