MedStar Health is looking for a Senior Behavioral Health Specialist. This role provides direct crisis intervention services to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations in the Emergency Department across all Medstar facilities. The Behavioral Health Specialist-II serves as a senior clinical specialist responsible for advanced assessments, complex case coordination, and quality assurance. Leads initiatives that enhance service delivery and documentation standards across multiple sites. Primary Duties:
Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments and evaluations to determine appropriate patient disposition and level-of-care recommendations. Coordinate admissions, transfers, and referrals by collaborating with physicians, nurses, inpatient psychiatric units, community providers, and insurance companies. Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation, ensuring adherence to regulatory, legal, and organizational standards.. Serve as a clinical resource by providing consultation, training, and support to staff while promoting consistency in assessment and documentation practices. Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on workflow efficiency, documentation integrity, compliance, and patient care outcomes across multiple hospital sites.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in psychology . (Required) 3-4 years Advanced assessment, documentation, and workflow improvement leadership . (Required) LCSW-C - Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical in the State of Maryland upon hire (Required) OR LCPC-Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Maryland upon hire (Required) This position has a hiring range of USD $35.68 - USD $58.84 /Hr.
