Office / Remote in North Carolina Position Summary To provide peer support services as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team serving individuals with mental health and/or substance use challenges. In addition to delivering direct support, the role includes supervising Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) to ensure high-quality service delivery. The Qualified Professional is also responsible for developing and maintaining timely, accurate documentation, supporting service authorization and compliance requirements, and contributing to the overall effectiveness and continuity of care. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The Qualified Professional (QP) is responsible for monitoring the work of Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS), Assistant Peers (AP), and Paraprofessionals (PP) on their assigned cases, ensuring adherence to established Peer Support policies and procedures. The QP develops, implements, and enforces these policies while maintaining responsibility for accurate and timely documentation, including clinical notes and updates to Person-Centered Plans (PCPs). The QP ensures that all cases are linked to appropriate services, submits clinical information necessary to obtain and maintain authorizations, and updates PCPs in a timely manner. They are knowledgeable in measurable goal writing, community resources, and other aspects of care planning. Upon receiving a case, the QP contacts the consumer within 24 hours and returns all calls within three hours of receipt or by the next business day if received after hours. Monthly account reviews are conducted to ensure productivity and adherence to agency, state, and ELW policies and procedures. The QP reviews consumer records and case files to monitor timely completion of work, identify errors or trends, and documents monthly supervision sessions with CPSS on their assigned team. In addition, the QP provides support services to address the educational, vocational, residential, financial, social, medical, and mental health needs of consumers. Participation in agency staff meetings, case conferences, individual and group supervision, and required training is expected. The QP maintains professional standards, observes all rules of confidentiality, upholds client rights, and adheres to the agency's Code of Ethics and Conduct. The QP also participates in agency outreach and fundraising events as requested, demonstrates sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the service population, and displays a willingness to assist in other agency programs as needed. Overall, the QP embodies the agency's Code of Ethics while working toward the mission of the organization, ensuring high-quality, client-centered services and a culture of accountability and professionalism. Proven expertise in psychotherapy techniques, including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and behavior management strategies Strong experience with child & family counseling, working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, and special education needs Skilled in crisis intervention, crisis management, and de-escalation techniques for diverse populations Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical records documentation Familiarity with telehealth technology platforms for remote patient care delivery Ability to conduct diagnostic evaluations for mental health conditions such as PTSD, Geriatrics issues, gender issues counseling, chronic pain management, and addiction counseling Experience working within inpatient or outpatient clinical settings with a focus on behavioral health or medical support services Strong case management skills combined with research experience to inform evidence-based practices in mental health treatment Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree (Not Human Services field) & 4+ years full-time experience with population served or Bachelor's degree (in Human Services field) Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record Proof of current/valid car insurance Acceptable background report Core Competencies Ability to work well with others. Ability to interact with various types of people. A sound understanding of mental health and/or substance abuse problems and treatments.
