WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
RefinedScience is seeking an experienced Clinical Data Manager 2 to join an interdisciplinary team of computational biologists, data scientists, data engineers, cancer biologists, and clinicians who are seeking to develop new therapies for cancer and other diseases.
KEY ACTIVITIES
Data abstraction from open text notes Efficiently identify and manually abstract pathology, treatment and other clinical data from open text medical notes that is thorough and accurate Collaborate in the development and maintenance of documentation of data definitions and abstraction procedures Maintain EDC database for disease area(s) Quality control Think critically to identify potential problems affecting the abstraction process for improvement and quality control Perform quality review on work completed by other data abstractors Review data quality dashboards and make corrections Address data quality questions from a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, bioinformaticians, and clinical scientists Manage process documentation Multidisciplinary Coordination Translation of healthcare and clinical concepts for data engineering work Coordination with clinicians for clarification on abstraction procedures and clinical concepts Support the multidisciplinary team in automated abstraction activities
MUST HAVES
Bachelor's degree or higher in a healthcare related field Knowledge and regular use of medical terminology 2+ years of manual data abstraction or chart review experience from EHR source documents such as open text notes Organized with great attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy Willing to learn and ask questions Possess high levels of curiosity, initiative, and self-motivation Flexible to adapt in a rapidly growing startup environment Manage time well and be able to prioritize Team player who is collaborative and can work in an independent environment Handle problems in a solutions-oriented manner Commitment to ensuring regulatory compliance and confidentiality
NICE TO HAVES
Prior experience in a healthcare or research setting with oncology Prior experience with analysis of datasets, biostatistics, or SQL Familiarity with research data capture systems (e.g., REDCap or other EDC platforms). Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude and Gemini A successful applicant for this role will likely have a background as a healthcare provider and/or a strong background in investigator led medical research.

WHAT WE OFFER
The target salary range is $83,500 to $130,000 annually. Base pay offered may vary within the posted range based on several factors, including but not limited to education, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
