Status:
Full-Time Tucson Medical Center (TMC) is seeking a Clinical Application Analyst to support and optimize Epic clinical documentation workflows. This on-site role partners closely with clinicians and Information Services to improve workflows and deliver high-quality Epic solutions that support safe, efficient patient care. Provides advanced support and expertise to clinical units in the use of the clinical information systems and other assigned applications. Formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable clinical systems and industry requirements. Plans, analyzes, designs, performs structured testing, prepares technical specifications, and troubleshoots for optimum system utilization. In addition, the clinical application analyst senior role will mentor, set standards of work, and support clinical applications analysts and team members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Support and optimize Epic clinical documentation applications
  • Collaborate with clinicians to improve workflows
  • Design, test, and maintain Epic build
  • Support process improvement and change management
  • Provide on-site Epic user support
  • Participate in upgrades and ongoing maintenance Drives the design and implementation of new clinical processes and optimized system configuration.
Leads and facilitates design sessions to achieve improvements. Understands the workflow strategy of a particular function/area and works with the team to define the requirements and assists in designing improved processes utilizing the clinical information system. Influences clinical leadership and management decisions and drives ownership and acceptance of change to the processes. Meets with customers frequently and provide frequent written status updates to customers, team members, and department management. Identifies solutions to complex clinical directives or implementation impediments. Provides consultative services to customers and technologists as to the workflow processes and incorporation of technology solutions. Participates and supports other team members in on call support and customer rounding activities. Solves production and maintenance problems, documents processes and creates action plans delineating steps and procedures. Analyzes tasks and problems and determines the most efficient and cost effective method of accomplishing defined requirements within a scheduled deadline. Executes comprehensive testing plans to verify critical outputs and system integrity. Writes SOWs that are complete and clearly understood, while appropriately setting customer expectations. Oversee and direct activities with the vendor including staying current with vendor trends, understanding strategic plans, implementations, and technology. Schedules loading bundles and fixes with vendor, systems group and customers. Examines techniques in use and determining appropriate changes to effect improvements, reduce costs and enhance internal operational clinical processes. Maintains knowledge of expanding technical and clinical expertise and applies new skills and knowledge to TMC situations. Ensures that new or modified clinical information systems maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA, TJC, and other regulatory agencies. Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values policies and standards. Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree is required in information technology, healthcare, business, or related field. Master's degree or equivalent experience in clinical applications preferred. Additional relevant experience may substitute for lack of education upon Supervisory and HR approval.
EXPERIENCE
Four (4) years of work experience in a healthcare setting, three (3) years of clinical applications analyst experience with Epic, preferably in an acute care setting, and 1 (one) year of project management related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Epic application certification(s) preferred, including: ASAP, Stork, Inpatient, or Hospice
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION
Recommend clinicians, including RN's, maintain current state licensure, preferred. Will be required to certify on one or more Epic applications and maintain certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of information systems, business operations, requirements analysis, and assigned core application(s). Skill in assessing needs and determining through documentation what the best approach might be. Skill at problem definition and data collection by establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to prepare detailed written reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, managers, directors, senior leaders, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to apply basic algebraic concepts. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
