Clinical Applications Analyst - EPIC Beaker Job Category Information Technology Schedule Full time Shift 1 -
Day Shift SUMMARY:
Provides support to clinical units in the use of the clinical information systems and other assigned applications. Assists in the development of system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable clinical systems and industry requirements. Plans, analyzes, designs, performs structured testing, and troubleshoots for optimum system utilization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Attends and participates in team, project and department meetings to increase awareness and information flow. Meets with customers frequently and provides frequent written status updates to customers, team members, and department management using approved modes of communication. Identifies solutions to complex clinical directives or implementation impediments. Provides consultative services to customers and technologists as to the workflow processes and incorporation of technology solutions. Participates in on call support and customer rounding activities. Solves production and maintenance problems, documents processes and creates action plans delineating steps and procedures. Analyzes tasks and problems and determines the most efficient and cost effective method of accomplishing defined requirements within a scheduled deadline. Executes comprehensive testing plans to verify critical outputs and system integrity. Adheres to SOWs that are complete and clearly understood, while appropriately setting customer expectations. Documents and prioritizes issues with vendor; stays current with vendor trends, strategic plans and technology. Schedules loading bundles and fixes with vendor, systems group and customers. Examines techniques in use and determining appropriate changes to effect improvements, reduce costs and enhance internal operational processes. Demonstrates ongoing dedication to expanding technical and clinical expertise and applies new skills and knowledge to TMC situations. Ensures that new or modified clinical information systems maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA, TJC, and other regulatory agencies. Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards. Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree is required in information technology, healthcare, business, or related field. Additional relevant experience may substitute for lack of education upon Supervisory and HR approval.
EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of work experience in a healthcare setting, one (1) year of clinical applications experience, preferably in an acute care setting. One (1) year of experience with EPIC Beaker.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION
Recommend clinicians, including RN's, maintain current state licensure, preferred. Will be required to certify on one or more Epic applications and maintain certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
: Knowledge of system analysis and operating systems preferably used in a hospital setting. Skilled in assessing needs and determining through documentation what the best approach might be. Skilled at problem definition and data collection by establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general clinical periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, clinical correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, managers, directors, senior leaders, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to apply basic algebraic concepts. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
