Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The IS/Informatics Specialist is responsible for all aspects of EHR-specific information technology through the planning, organizing and evaluation of EHR operations. Responsible for ensuring that there is support within the facility including creating, managing, and maintaining the EHR system; troubleshooting and resolving EHR-related system issues; and providing end user assistance as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Demonstrates competency in providing IS technical services related to EHR system: Responsible for ensuring that procedures are followed that provide for the safety and confidentiality of all electronic data including PHI (Protected Health Information). Maintains accurate documentation of EHR system adds, moves and changes. Demonstrates understanding of how to use available help resources; including knowledge base support, white papers, FAQ's, peers and vendor contact. Also demonstrates ability to describe problems to external technical support staff in a manner that facilitates quick resolutions to problems. Demonstrates ability to handle constantly changing workload; to multitask effectively during busy times, and to exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations. Demonstrates ability to work responsibly with or without direct supervision. 2. Demonstrates competency in the design and implementation of clinical information systems of the organization: Participation in the planning, development, implementation, upgrading, maintenance, and evaluation of clinical information systems. Activities may include data collection, cataloguing of gathered information, documentation of processes, and communication with staff. Provides and/or coordinates orientation and training for clinical applications for physicians and staff. Maintains components of the clinical information systems, including revisions, testing system changes, and integration of changes into the clinical environment. Analyzes and prioritizes user needs and requests related to clinical information systems. Develops, documents, and leads processes for multi-disciplinary end-user input regarding clinical systems and processes. Analyzes the impact of information technology in clinical work processes. Communicates issues/topics with team members, nursing leadership, and Administration. Demonstrates understanding of maintaining security, confidentiality, and integrity of employee, patient, family, and other medical information. 3. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of job performance. 4. Completes all aspects of duties within specified timeframes. 5. Responsible for abiding by department and hospital policies and procedures. 6. Updates job knowledge for self by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations. 7. Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree. Previous experience working with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving system issues. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required. Must be able to demonstrate computer skills in a Windows environment. Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment. Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring.
