Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Epic Integration Solutions Engineer to design, develop, and maintain the vital data bridges connecting our Epic EHR environment with third-party healthcare applications and devices. This is a highly collaborative, hybrid role. You will analyze complex clinical and revenue cycle workflows while using your technical skills to code, test, and support API, HL7, and FHIR data exchanges. Key Responsibilities- Write, test, and deploy custom interfaces, APIs, and ETL data pipelines between Epic and external clinical/financial platforms using healthcare data standards like HL7 and FHIR.
- Translate complex operational and clinical needs into technical build requirements, working closely with end-users and Epic application teams.
- Monitor interface engines and messaging queues; investigate and resolve integration errors to ensure zero disruption to patient care.
- Participate in Epic system upgrade projects, managing data integrity and interoperability across all supporting applications.
- Document technical specifications, integration workflows, and data mapping in strict compliance with HIPAA and health data privacy regulations. Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building, configuring, and maintaining Epic Bridges interfaces.
- 3+ years of experience working deeply with HL7 (v2.x) messaging, segments, and data types.
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience developing with
HL7 FHIR
standards and RESTful Web Services/APIs in a healthcare environment.- 3+ years of experience programming and managing enterprise interface engines (e.g., Cloverleaf, Corepoint, or Mirth Connect), including scripting extensions.
- 3+ years of experience as a business/systems analyst translating clinical/operational workflows into technical specifications.
- 2+ years of experience troubleshooting TCP/IP communications, SFTP file transfers, and writing SQL queries for data validation.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field (or 4+ years of equivalent professional healthcare IT experience). Preferred Qualifications
- Epic Bridges and Tapestry Certifications are preferred
