Job Description

Individual works closely with the HLA Supervisor and assists in the oversight of work processes and work groups within the HLA laboratory. Is responsible for relaying communications between management and staff. Assists with problem resolution to technical and personnel issues that surface in daily laboratory operations. Leads team building effort and fosters an open and creative environment within the laboratory. Acts as a mediator between the laboratory and the transplant clinics, assisting in the education of the clinicians in the review and interpretation of complex laboratory results. Attends transplant meetings and makes recommendations to streamline workflows between the laboratory and the clinics to better serve patient care. Has a key role in the validation, optimization, and implementation of highly complex state of the art technologies in a rapidly growing HLA laboratory. Serves as subject matter expert on laboratory procedures, and primary contact for troubleshooting of assays and instrumentation. Shares responsibility for training and competency assessments of laboratory staff, and collaborates with supervisor on performance management and quality issues. Maintains the laboratory in a constant state of readiness, and in compliance with all applicable accreditation standards. extension program. Bachelor's degree in science, medical technology, or related field required. Minimum three years of experience in HLA.
Additional Qualifications:
Good organizational, communication, problem solving, and computer skills.
Certification and License:
National Medical Technologist certification, CHS, or CHT preferred.
