Job Description
JOB TITLE
IS Technical CoordinatorRESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as Senior LIS Administrator for the laboratory, including the following tasks: o Primary contact and lead for technical LIS projects o Understands the full scope of LIS and can perform advanced troubleshooting o Maintains and oversees validation of LIS version upgrades o Coordinates inventory of LIS hardware w/ IT o Responsible for LIS policies and workflows o Responsible for rules administration and function o Responsible for auto verification functionality o Develops processes to improve LIS efficiency and functionality o Oversees additional LIS administrator performance • Oversight and primary contact for other technical Information Systems (IS) integration, to include: o Technical, lab-related workflows (EHR, Billing, client portals, instrument software) o Related CAP accreditation and regulatory requirements o Assess and support implementation and validation of new lab equipment, software, or middleware • Provide the following support to Lab Leadership o Technical department policy and procedure review and/or development o Resource and facilitator regarding LIS compliance with both Femwell, VitalMD, and MediPath policies and procedures o Collaborate on IS/lab technology to achieve financial objectives and budgeting o Achieve department goals and QA projects through data analysis and metrics tracking, leveraging information systems • Support IT department with technical guidance and regulatory requirements • Support supervisors in IS competency assessment of technical staff • Leadership Competencies • Leadership § Model behaviors that demonstrate service excellence to staff and focus on the patient as the primary customer § Leads technical initiatives for the department to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Communication:
§ Works in partnership with the clinical teams, practice leadership, and senior leadership teams. § Fosters strong working relationships with all levels of the organization to facilitate effective communication and to connect front-line staff's daily priorities to the organization's strategic goals. § Demonstrates strong interpersonal savvy. o Confidentiality- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines.
- Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and MediPath policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission, vision, and values of the organization
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience- Bachelor's Degree of Science required (Medical Technology or other science such as Biology or Chemistry) + 4 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory (preferred), or Master's Degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology + 2 years' experience in a high complexity clinical lab. Experience
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience with laboratory information systems required
- eCW experience preferred
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory strongly preferred
- ASCP certification or meeting criteria for certification is required. MT(ASCP) is preferred
- Qualifications established by CLIA for a Technical Supervisor preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of specimen accessioning, anatomic pathology, and clinical lab testing
- Working knowledge of applicable clinical laboratory regulations and accreditation standards.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze workflow and implement process improvements.
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems, electronic medical records, and standard office software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle protected health information appropriately.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with clients, providers, and internal staff.
- Ability to manage difficult or sensitive conversations with professionalism, empathy, and diplomacy.
- Demonstrated commitment to service excellence and relationship-building with laboratory clients.
- Must be able to use independent judgment, to interact productively and positively with patients, physicians, providers, technologists, and other staff.
- Must be able to balance and prioritize multiple projects with a great attention to detail. High level of critical thinking skills. Self-motivated, efficient, and very organized. Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel, spreadsheets and typing.
- Exhibit leadership, ethical decision making, excellent critical thinking skills and positive interpersonal skills. Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements.
- May be required to lift and move items up to 20 to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment with exposure to biological materials and standard laboratory hazards. Work Environment
- Clinical laboratory environment.
- May require evening, weekend, holiday, or on-call support depending on operational needs.
- Frequent interaction with laboratory staff, providers, clients, and support departments. Performance Expectations
- Support growth and scalability of the organization, leveraging lab and clinical information systems and technology
- Bridge the gap between IT and Technical Operations staff to achieve laboratory goals
- Develop and mentor junior staff to become IS super-users and improve technical information system efficiency
- Ongoing compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements.
- Maintains a high standard of professionalism and responsiveness in all client interactions.
- Addresses staff and client questions and IS-related issues accurately, courteously, and within expected timeframes.
- Supports a positive client experience through effective communication, issue resolution, and follow-through.
- Helps strengthen client confidence in laboratory services by ensuring consistent, reliable, and service-focused information systems operations.
Pay:
$70,036.00 - $80,000.00 per yearBenefits:
