Job Description
Overview Under the direction of the Director or designee, provides leadership and technical expertise, coordinates workflow, manages staff scheduling and payroll functions, and performs training and quality activities. Ensures that testing is completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with regulatory guidelines and organizational policies and procedures. Has responsibility for oversight of staff. Performs the essential functions of the Medical Technologist. Primary shift will be afternoon hours starting at 2:00 pm through 10:30 pm. Flexibility is expected. May include occasional weekends and holidays. Supervises the employees of assigned area ensuring efficiency of workflow and continuity of services Ensures completion of employee departmental orientation, competency testing, compliance training and other mandatory instructions Ensures efficiency and productivity by monitoring the production status and directing the workflow and people resources to meet deadlines and standards Provides oversight and supervision of Lab Assistants, Lab Technicians, Medical Technologists and Med Tech Leads Participates in validations, projects and monitoring key performance indicators Provides leadership and technical expertise for the department helping to resolve issues associated with protocol, equipment, interpretation of test results and system interfaces Ensures that all QC/QA procedures, maintenance schedules, instrument calibration and function checks and other regulatory inspection agency requirements are followed Participates in the ongoing monitoring for each testing process to identify errors or potential problems leading to errors and takes effective and preventive corrective actions when indicated Performs Medical Technologist bench work as needed Participates in an on-call rotation Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
