Description of Duties:
Under general supervision, provide expertise and leadership of food manufacturing processes and equipment at the Wahiawa Value Added Product Development Center (WVAPDC). Assist in ensuring food manufacturing equipment is safe, operable and maintained. Develop and implement procedures to promote appropriate communication and safety information regarding kitchen and equipment protocol. Establish and maintain relationships in the production kitchens with users, students and industry. Assist in the execution of programs, workshops and training on equipment for users. Leverage entrepreneurial/business background to foster relationships with users across sectors and identify new opportunities for collaboration and growth, specific to food production and manufacturing. Manage relationships with WVAPDC partnering organizations as well as requirements for local authorities and regulatory agencies. Execute proper cleaning and maintenance protocols ensuring the facility is safe and hygenic. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Culinary Arts, Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field and 2 years of related work experience with responsibilities for food manufacturing or project management; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of food manufacturing demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, and terminology. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with sanitation and equipment safety protocols. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of food manufacturing. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
