Analytical Laboratories, Inc. offers the largest variety of scientific testing and sampling services of any private laboratory in Idaho. We serve Idaho, Eastern Oregon, Washington and Nevada. We perform comprehensive testing for individuals, private groups, commercial establishments, mines and government entities. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Sample Receiving Manager to lead our sample intake operations within a dynamic laboratory environment. This pivotal role involves overseeing the receipt, inspection, and documentation of samples for laboratory analyses. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency. Responsibilities Lead the sample receiving process, ensuring timely and accurate intake of samples. Verify sample integrity, completeness, and proper labeling in accordance with laboratory procedures and regulatory requirements. Maintain detailed records of all received samples using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to ensure traceability and compliance. Coordinate with laboratory teams—including microbiology, chemistry, organics and nutrients—to facilitate smooth sample transfer and processing workflows. Implement quality control measures to monitor sample handling procedures. Supervise an energetic and knowledgeable team of laboratory staff responsible for sample receipt, inspection, and documentation; provide training on proper procedures and safety protocols. Manage project timelines related to sample processing, prioritize tasks efficiently, and support departments through effective project management. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory guidelines during sample handling, storage, and disposal processes. Collaborate with departments to prepare documentation for audits or inspections related to sample management practices. Answering phone calls and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff member. Greeting and helping clients with the sample submission process. Experience Experience in a laboratory setting with a focus on sample receipt or specimen management within a laboratory setting preferred. Science background preferred. Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. 2+ years of customer service experience preferred. Computer skills required. Qualities Excellent analysis skills to identify discrepancies or issues during sample intake and resolve them efficiently. Must be team oriented. Must have a willingness to learn. Ability to lift 30lb sample containers. Ability to multi-task while accomplishing a variety of tasks in a timely manner. Attention to detail required. Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
