Summary Job Description:
Laboratory Supervisor Full Time I Day Shift Laboratory I Georgetown, Ky Description:
Provides direct supervision to assigned laboratory staff, including orientation, training, and ongoing competency assessment.
Conducts performance appraisals, coaching, counseling, and corrective action as appropriate.
Supports staff development and promotes adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and professional standards.
Serves as a role model for professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
Oversees daily laboratory operations for the freestanding ED and Urgent Care, ensuring efficient workflow and appropriate test turnaround times.
Coordinates staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage while balancing operational and budgetary needs.
Assists with inventory management, equipment functionality, and supply availability.
Identifies operational issues and implements solutions to support continuous service delivery.
Performs laboratory testing consistent with licensure, competency and entering results into the electronic medical record for patients presenting to the ER and Urgent Care Centers.
Provides bench coverage to support workflow, staffing shortages, and peak volumes.
Ensures accuracy, quality, and timeliness of test results in support of emergency and urgent care patient needs.
Adheres to laboratory safety standards, infection prevention practices, and quality control procedures.
Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP, ACHC, as applicable).
Participates in quality assurance activities, audits, proficiency testing, and corrective action planning.
Supports accurate documentation, policy adherence, and readiness for inspections and surveys.
Create processes, policies, and protocols to align with hospital policy and evidence-based practice.
Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP, ACHC, as applicable).
Participates in quality assurance activities, audits, proficiency testing, and corrective action planning.
Supports accurate documentation, policy adherence, and readiness for inspections and surveys. • Create processes, policies, and protocols to align with hospital policy and evidence-based practice.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (in a chemical, physical or biological science or Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution) required.
2 years of Experience.
Must have 1 year experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in the designated discipline and be qualified under CLIA regulations to function as a General or Technical Supervisor.
Certified in Clinical Laboratory Science by recognized certifying agencies.
