Manager (Laboratory) Willis-Knighton Health System - 3.7 Shreveport, LA Job Details Full-time 3 hours ago Qualifications Medical laboratory work Full Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated, self-directed Medical Laboratory Scientist who will oversee the daily operations of the Willis Knighton South Laboratory. Listed below is an outline of the major duties and responsibilities that you will be required to perform. However, you may be required to perform other related duties and activities. Oversees scheduling to ensure correct staffing levels in the department; Ensures daily compliance with work performance standards and provides technical expertise as needed or requested; Works in conjunction with the Laboratory Director and Laboratory Compliance Officer in the formulation of policies and procedures of the laboratory; Oversight of the laboratory quality control program; Provides customer service for questions directed at the laboratory from patient providers regarding test processes, patient results, or sample collection techniques; Provides orientation for new employees with regard to hospital, general laboratory, performance improvement and safety policies; Oversees employee laboratory technical training to ensure competency prior to working independently; Participates in long-range planning and budgeting processes in conjunction with the Laboratory Director and ensures performance within budgetary limits. Must be able to provide justification if variances exist; Counsels personnel on laboratory and hospital policies concerning job performance, as needed; Identifies and resolves problems due to breaks in communication, complaints or employee concerns ultimately to determine the root cause of the problem; Participates in WKH multidisciplinary committees as requested and reports back information to the laboratory at monthly supervisor meeting; Ensures in conjunction with the Laboratory Director and Laboratory Compliance Officer that the laboratory complies with all local, state and federal regulatory requirements and maintains a continuous state of readiness; Other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Laboratory Director.
