Job Description
Supervisor, Core Laboratory Technical Operations (Chemistry-Hematology) Charlotte, North Carolina | Full-Time | Permanent Direct Hire | 40 Hours/Week Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Supervisor of Core Laboratory Technical Operations to oversee Chemistry and Hematology services within a high-volume clinical laboratory environment. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, staff development, and high-quality diagnostic testing across core lab disciplines. The Supervisor will collaborate closely with pathologists, laboratory leadership, and enterprise stakeholders to ensure laboratory services align with organizational goals for quality, safety, efficiency, and patient care. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of Chemistry and Hematology sections within the core laboratory.
- Collaborate with medical directors, pathologists, and administrative leadership to support clinical and enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Maintain technical competency across testing systems and serve as a subject matter expert and competency assessor.
- Lead performance improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, turnaround time, and patient satisfaction.
- Ensure laboratory operations meet all regulatory and accreditation standards including CLIA, CAP, OSHA, FDA, and The Joint Commission.
- Maintain continual inspection readiness through policy adherence and process development.
- Monitor staffing, workload distribution, and resource utilization to ensure optimal performance.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development for laboratory staff, including hiring input, performance evaluations, corrective action, and retention strategies.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, engagement, and professional growth.
- Ensure accurate and timely laboratory results and maintain high standards of quality control and quality assurance.
- Collaborate with internal partners to ensure effective communication and excellent customer service across departments.
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all safety protocols. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field required.
- MLS(ASCP) or MT(ASCP) certification required; additional specialty certifications (M, MB, HTL, CG, etc.) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience in technical operations required.
- Prior leadership, supervisory, or lead technologist experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations, quality systems, and accreditation standards. Skills & Competencies

- Proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS) and standard computer applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and twist throughout the workday.
- May lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
- Exposure to biological specimens, infectious materials, and laboratory hazards.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including lab coats, gloves, gowns, and eye protection.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
- May require travel with exposure to varying weather and road conditions. Schedule & Details
