Durham, NC Job Details Full-time 1 hour ago Qualifications Mechanical engineering HVAC control system operation Automation Technical documentation Performance Reporting Laboratory experience Data management Building automation systems Mechanical knowledge Full Job Description The Laboratory Ventilation Manager (LVM) administers EPA-RTP's Laboratory Ventilation Management Program (LVMP), a critical function given the research and development mission of the campus. This position ensures the safe, code-compliant, and efficient operation of laboratory HVAC, electrical, and control systems across the EPA-RTP Main Campus and associated facilities. Responsibilities Administer EPA-RTP's Laboratory Ventilation Management Program (LVMP) in its entirety Coordinate facility services and schedule all ventilation-related maintenance and inspection activities Ensure continuous and effective communication with facility occupants, government representatives, and technical staff regarding laboratory ventilation operations Monitor performance of laboratory HVAC, electrical, and control systems on an ongoing basis Manage data collection and document results related to system performance, alarms, and corrective actions Provide recommendations to the COR for system improvements, energy conservation measures, and optimization initiatives Ensure compliance with ASHRAE 55 and 62.1 standards for indoor environmental quality (IEQ) Coordinate with the BAS team to integrate laboratory ventilation controls with building automation systems Support commissioning and calibration activities as directed by the Government Participate in environmental compliance activities related to laboratory ventilation Position Requirements Mechanical engineering degree AND a minimum of 5 years of operating experience with laboratory (or related applications) HVAC, electrical, and control systems; OR In lieu of the degree: minimum 10 years of operating experience with laboratory (or related applications) HVAC, electrical, and control systems of similar size, scope, and complexity Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory ventilation design principles, fume hood operation, and pressurization control Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) as they relate to HVAC and ventilation controls Strong data management, documentation, and reporting skills Experience with ASHRAE standards and IEQ compliance preferred
