Job Description

Position Summary:
Rutgers University-Camden is seeking a Supervisor of Laboratory Operations to support the operational management of teaching and research facilities within the Department of Biology and the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology (CCIB) at the Joint Health Science Center (JHSC). Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Biology, with a dotted-line relationship to the CCIB Director, this position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day facilities operations, including laboratory management, maintenance and troubleshooting of common and core equipment, and supply inventory oversight. The role also leads the development, documentation, and implementation of quality standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with the Department Chair of Biology and the CCIB Director.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelors in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with preferred two years relevant laboratory technician or research study experience. An M.S. in a scientific discipline with the relevant training may be substituted for one year of experience.

Confocal, SEM, IFM microscopes, electron microscope, Real-time PCR instruments, cell sorter, ultralow freezers, autoclave, centrifuges, ice, dishwasher, incubators, refrigerators, freezers, imaging stations, scales, ovens, iLab, liquid nitrogen tank, hoods and incubators in the cell culture rooms, gel scanner, nano drop and additional equipment currently present and bought in the future in these facilities.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
May be required to lift and move up to 50 pounds; may require a valid driver's license.
Salary:
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, within university policy and salary schedules, as well as departmental budgets.
