Full-time Position Summary:
The Media Laboratory Production Manager plays a vital role in leading the production of and producing media safely and efficiently in Qualterra's plant propagation production environments. The Manager oversees all media production processes, ensuring quality standards and laboratory protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversees media production for production scale tissue culture labs. Ensure media production is safe, accurate, efficient, and on time and maintain accurate and up-to-date media records. Lead the development of SOPs related to media making methods ensuring the highest quality standards are achieved. Interact with Research Science staff in vetting new media formulations and developing related methods. Evaluate and implement continuous process improvements for the media production process. Troubleshoot problems that arise and provide clear direction for resolution. Oversee the maintenance for chemical inventory, ensure safe chemical handling and storage procedures are in full compliance with state and federal regulations. Request new inventory when needed. Serve as both a subject matter expert and role model leader for media quality and sterile technique and staff. Adhere to safety protocols and serve as a leader for safety culture in the lab. Manage equipment calibration and maintenance and ensure proper lab etiquette and cleanliness by staff.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience with media making, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience with media experience. Ability to manage media laboratory staff across multiple locations. Ability to institute standard operating procedures effectively. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to bring forward strategic thinking, identify issues and bring solutions. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Safety-conscious and vigilant.
Reports to:
Sr. Director of Plant Production and Laboratory Operations Work location: Position resides in Pullman, WA with regular travel (up to 50%) to Qualterra's greenhouse in Mabton, WA.
Pay:
$21.00 - $24.00 per hour
