About the
Role:
As a Medical Technologist at UAB Medical West, you will play a crucial role in the accurate and timely diagnosis of patients. Your main responsibility will be to perform complex laboratory tests on patient samples, including blood, urine, and other bodily fluids. By analyzing and interpreting the results, you will help healthcare professionals make informed decisions regarding patient care. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results. Your work will directly impact patient outcomes and contribute to the overall quality of healthcare provided at UAB Medical West.

SIGN-ON BONUS Tuition Reimbursement Shift:
7:30am - 6:00pm 7/on 7/off
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or a related field. 1 year of experience as a Registered Medical Technologist. Registered as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting. Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and equipment. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
Registered as a Medical Technologist by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent Specialization in a specific area of laboratory testing, such as microbiology or hematology. Experience with laboratory information systems and electronic medical records. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
Performing a variety of laboratory tests on patient samples, such as blood, urine, and other bodily fluids. Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, including analyzers, microscopes, and centrifuges. Analyzing test results and accurately interpreting data to provide healthcare professionals with accurate and timely information. Ensuring the quality and accuracy of test results by following established protocols and quality control procedures.

In this role, you will utilize your strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and equipment to perform a wide range of laboratory tests. Attention to detail is crucial, as you will be responsible for accurately analyzing and interpreting test results. Additionally, your ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines will ensure the timely delivery of test results. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills will be essential in troubleshooting any issues that may arise during testing. Effective communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to collaborate with healthcare professionals and provide them with valuable insights based on your test results.
