Clinical Laboratory Scientist Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced clinical laboratory scientist to perform a wide range of medical laboratory tests used for diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating and maintaining Beckman's AU480 and Siemens EXL 200 analytical machines and will demonstrate technical proficiency in their use. The candidate must also have experience with validation processes, SOP development and implementation, CLIA compliance, and maintaining CLIA-required SOP documentation and standards .
Key Responsibilities:
Perform a wide range of medical laboratory tests with accuracy to aid in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. Utilize technical knowledge and theoretical understanding to validate the accuracy and quality of results, ensuring conformity to specifications. Understand and apply appropriate control measures and protocols for abnormal test results, escalating discrepancies to Senior, Reference, or Supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientists. Operate, calibrate, and maintain Beckmen's AU480 and Seimens EXL 200 analytical machines, ensuring optimal performance and accurate results. Record, analyze, and validate test results, adhering to laboratory protocols and regulatory standards. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and perform routine preventative maintenance, documenting all activities. Perform troubleshooting and report instrument malfunctions to senior staff or management. Stay updated with new technical developments in laboratory testing and acquire the skills necessary to adapt to technological advancements. Interpret the significance of normal and abnormal test results and handle results in accordance with protocols. Stain and examine blood and urine samples using microscopy, reporting abnormalities to supervisors or the medical director. Perform validation processes on analytical equipment and operational checks to ensure reliability of test results. Develop, review, and maintain laboratory SOPs in accordance with CLIA regulations and laboratory standards. Ensure compliance with all safety/health protocols and state/federal regulations as defined by the laboratory and hospital policies, including CLIA requirements. Resolve problems related to clinical issues, equipment, or testing, and escalate when necessary.
Qualifications:
Local candidates from Fremont, San Jose, Newark, Union City are preferred. Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license or equivalent certification. Proven experience in operating Beckmen's AU480 and Seimens EXL 200 analytical machines is mandatory. Experience with laboratory validation procedures, SOP preparation, and CLIA compliance/documentation is required. Strong technical knowledge and hands-on expertise in medical laboratory procedures. Attention to detail and ability to analyze and interpret complex laboratory data. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment or testing issues. Familiarity with laboratory safety and regulatory compliance standards. Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
Prior experience with validation of analytical equipment and calibration processes. Knowledge of laboratory inventory management and preventive maintenance documentation. Proficiency in microscopy and staining techniques for blood and urine samples. Experience preparing and maintaining CLIA-compliant SOPs and laboratory documentation.
