00 per hour Job Description Demonstrates care and compassion to all patients and visitors. Provides courteous and professional assistance to other staff members and physicians. Performs tests of waived and nonwaived complexity in all sections of the laboratory. Follows procedures for quality control and assurance. Correctly document all work performed. Oversee the work of lab assistants. . forms skin, arterial, and venipuncture collections necessary. Assist with regulatory compliance activities at the direction of section supervisors and the lab manager. Roles & Responsibilities Displays courteous, professional manner toward staff and guests. Communicates clearly with patients and caregivers. Properly identifies patients before collecting or accepting specimens. Performs phlebotomy procedures, as necessary. Properly labels and identifies specimens throughout the workflow. Knows and follows specimen type and handling requirements. Processes specimens promptly and correctly. Uses the EMR and LIS to manage specimens and orders. Promptly calls critical values to licensed caregivers, documents call. Performs correct procedures for quality control of all testing. Correctly identifies and responds to quality-control variances. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Manages time and tasks to maximize overall efficiency. Takes an active role in quality assurance and improvement. Demonstrates knowledge of all sources of risk and error. Use precautions, practice controls, and other safety behaviors. Follows policies of the laboratory, the district, and their regulators. Maintains proper certifications with a minimum of prompting. Helps with ancillary duties (stocking supplies, clerical tasks, etc.) Grooming and hygiene are consistently professional. Demonstrates initiative
