1 Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with strong Blood Bank expertise to join a high-volume acute care laboratory. This role requires a seasoned traveler who can work independently on night shift while performing complex immunohematology testing and supporting transfusion services in a fast-paced hospital environment. Key Responsibilities Perform advanced Blood Bank testing and transfusion service procedures Conduct ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening, antibody identification, and antigen typing Perform AHG and electronic crossmatches Complete transfusion reaction investigations and workups Process blood products, including thawing and preparation for transfusion Accurately process, accession, and analyze laboratory specimens Ensure compliance with laboratory quality assurance and quality control standards Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of laboratory results Follow patient identification and specimen handling protocols Work independently while supporting critical hospital transfusion needs Utilize laboratory information systems and Blood Bank software effectively Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of Clinical Laboratory Scientist experience ( hard requirement ) Recent and current Blood Bank experience within the last 2 years ( required ) Previous travel assignment experience in Blood Bank ( required ) Experience in a large acute care hospital (300+ beds) ( required ) Experience in Level I or Level II Trauma Centers ( required ) Experience with Epic Beaker ( required ) Active California CLS licensure (if required for practice) ASCP Blood Bank certification or equivalent qualifying certification Required Blood Bank Skills ABO/Rh Testing Antibody Screens & Identification AHG Crossmatch Antigen Typing Direct and Indirect Coombs Testing Rhogam Screening Cord Blood Evaluation Transfusion Reaction Investigation Blood Product Processing Type & Screen Crossmatch Processing Blood Product Storage and Handling Preferred Experience ASCP Blood Bank (BB) Certification Clinical Immunohematology Specialist certification Immucor instrumentation WellSky Blood Bank software Fetal Hemoglobin testing Component modification experience Teaching hospital experience Work Environment High-volume acute care hospital laboratory Busy Blood Bank processing approximately 30-50 samples daily High volume of type & screen and crossmatch testing Independent night-shift work environment Rotating weekends and holiday coverage required Schedule Details 4 x 10-hour night shifts Weekend rotation required Holiday rotation required Start time may occasionally flex earlier based on department needs One pre-approved time-off request permitted if submitted upfront What We're Looking For Highly skilled Blood Bank professional Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent attention to detail and patient safety focus Strong organizational and communication skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity laboratory setting AL_TSC About our
