Interprets complex test results. Serves as a resource for complex tests and procedures. Manages instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Leads quality control and assurance testing. Assists with data collection and special projects. Trains medical laboratory staff. Performs pre-analytical activities. Conducts tests and analytical procedures efficiently and accurately. Participates in proficiency testing. Performs post-analytical activities. Provides orientation and training to new employees and medical technology students. Documents orientation and training of new employees and medical technology students. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical skills and aptitudes related to the laboratory testing, procedures and processes performed in department or work area assigned Follows and ensures adherence of staff, to the Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies; protects confidentiality of patient information and results at all times Knowledge of laboratory rules and regulations including:AABB, CAP, CLIA
Ability to work independently and adapt to varying priorities, including directing workflow with minimal supervision Ability to maintain equipment/records and perform quality assessment activities Ability to operate computer systems to maintain patient documentation, testing records, and other related documents Ability to educate and train new staff in medical laboratory settings Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, etc. Ability and willingness to adapt to change Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]Education:
Bachelor's [Required]Field of Study:
degree medical technology or related sciences with appropriate state licensure if required or appropriate national certificationWork Experience:
